IDENTITY UNDER ATTACK · EPISODE 02

The Login That Came Out of Nowhere

7:40 AM, toothbrush in hand, and the phone kept asking the same question. One of the two buttons would have made it stop.

Identity Under Attack, episode 2: The Login That Came Out of Nowhere. Fragment 02, the prompt.

The phone asked a simple question three times in two minutes. The honest answer was easy. The tired answer was easier.

7:40 AM. Thursday.

Sam Rivera was halfway through brushing their teeth when the phone lit up on the edge of the sink. Are you trying to sign in? Their work email. A computer they did not own. Two buttons.

A sign-in approval prompt on Sam's phone asking 'Are you trying to sign in?' from an unfamiliar Windows computer, the third request in two minutes, with buttons for no and yes.

Sam left it. The screen went dark. Ten seconds later it lit up again. Then again.

It was early, the buzzing was loud, and one of those buttons would make it stop. Sam's thumb hovered over it a moment longer than they would later like to admit.

Then a message from Jordan slid in on top of the prompt: Team meeting at 9. Something's happened with Nina's number.
