Identity Under Attack, episode 3: The Voice That Sounded Right. Fragment 03, the voice.

The voice paused where Jordan pauses. It apologised the way Jordan apologises. It just wasn't Jordan.

4:05 PM. Monday.

Nina was between two client calls when a voice note arrived from Jordan. Twenty-one seconds. She played it on speaker.

A 21-second voice note that appears to be from Jordan, asking Nina to send the signed contract and an advance to a new email address before five.

It was Jordan's voice. The small pause before sorry. The name of the event he had been talking about for weeks. The kind of rushed, apologetic message he really does send when a day goes sideways.

Nina opened the contract folder. A text arrived a moment later with the new email address.

It did not end in the company's name.
