The Warning to Everyone Else

His account had emailed a link to everyone he knew. Aarav's first instinct was to reply-all from the same account. Jordan stopped him.

The account was Aarav's again. The eighty-four emails it sent at 6:02 AM were not coming back.

9:05 AM. Saturday.

The account was his again, but the sent folder told the rest of the story. At 6:02 AM, while he slept, it had emailed a short message and a link to everyone in his address book: family, friends, two old professors, and a couple of the team's freelancers.

His mother had nearly clicked. His cousin had. One professor had replied, cheerfully, asking whose wedding.

Aarav's first instinct was to reply to everyone from the same account: sorry, someone got into my account, please ignore. His finger was on the button when Jordan, still on the line, said, "Wait. Think about how that looks from their side."
