Nothing went wrong this week. That's what made it the right week to make a plan.

It was the first Sunday in weeks without a deadline. Nani had brought kheer, Tara had stayed for dinner, and Riya had put a sheet of card and the good felt pens in the middle of the table.

Five surprises in five weeks, she said: a free prize, a red screen, Kabir's account, the castle questions, the dragon page. Every time, somebody had stopped and asked. She wanted that to be the family rule, for everyone.

Arjun got the pens and the job of drawing the button: a big round pause sign, and under it three words. Stop. Check. Ask.

Tara read it, folded her arms, and asked the question Riya had been hoping someone would.

“So I have to ask before I click anything? I'm thirteen.”
