Everyone Had Access

A new designer searched for a logo and found client contracts instead. Then she did the one thing nobody had done in years: she asked.

11:20 AM. Tuesday.

Maya Kapoor's first real task at Northstar Studio was small on purpose: resize six Brightline Foods social posts for a new campaign.

She needed the logo pack. She typed "Brightline" into the shared drive search and waited.

The logo pack came up. So did the client's signed contract. A spreadsheet called Brightline_Rates_2026. A folder named Brightline - Legal - Confidential.

She didn't open any of them. She checked the name in the corner of the screen, in case she'd been signed in as someone else.

She hadn't.

It was her second day. She didn't want to be the new person who made a fuss. She also didn't want to be the new person who saw something she shouldn't have.

So she wrote the three file names on a sticky note and walked over to Priya's desk.

"Quick question," Maya said. "Am I supposed to be able to see these?"
