THE LAST FILE ยท EPISODE 26
Nobody Knew What to Do
A practice drill, an imaginary file in the wrong inbox, and eleven minutes of polite waiting. Then Priya wrote one name on the whiteboard, four times.
10:00 AM. Monday.
Priya walked into the meeting room, put her phone face down in the middle of the table, and didn't sit.
"Practice drill," she said. "A spreadsheet of Brightline's launch pricing has just gone to the wrong client. They've replied asking what it is. Go."
Nobody went.
It wasn't that people didn't care. After last Tuesday, everyone cared. Priya hadn't waited for next month's booked practice, and this one was different: this time, she wouldn't be in it. Alex had read version two of the plan twice over the weekend.
But reading a plan and moving inside one are different things. Daniel glanced at Alex, waiting for the founder to take charge. Alex glanced at Priya, because Priya always knew the next step.
Priya folded her arms. "I'm not here. I'm at the dentist. Phone off until noon."
Maya quietly started the timer on her phone.
Forty seconds passed before anyone spoke. And when someone finally did, it was to ask a question.
