The Business That Finally Prepared

Priya wrote an incident plan and everyone said it looked great. Then she put one card on the table and asked them to use it.

The Last File, episode 24: The Business That Finally Prepared. 15:30 Friday. The meeting room, one card face down.

3:30 PM. Friday.

Priya Sharma had spent two evenings writing Northstar Studio's first incident plan. Two pages: who to call, what to do first, how to talk to clients.

On Monday she shared it. By Wednesday, everyone had replied. “Looks great.” “Really clear.” “Thanks, Priya.”

Nobody asked a single question. That was what worried her.

So on Friday afternoon she booked the meeting room for twenty minutes, brought samosas and a box of doughnuts, and put one index card face down on the table.

“This is practice,” she said. “Nothing real is happening, and nobody's being tested except the plan.”

She turned the card over.

The scenario card: Jordan's work laptop is left in a taxi at 6:10 PM on a Friday, with the Brightline launch files on it.

Everyone looked down at the plan. Then at each other.

“Okay,” Jordan said slowly. “So what do I do first?”
