THE LAST FILE · EPISODE 23
The Founder Was the Weakest Link
Alex needed one file from the studio at 11 PM. The quickest way skipped two rules he'd agreed to, and taught his team something he never meant to.
11:02 PM. Tuesday.
Alex Morgan was in a hotel room two hours from home, with a pitch at nine the next morning and one problem.
The prospective client wanted the packaging concept printed at full size. The final file had to be exported from the big workstation at the studio, the only machine with the licensed fonts. Alex's laptop couldn't do it.
Jordan Blake was still at the office, finishing the pitch deck. Alex called him.
“Can you install a remote-access app on the workstation? I'll log in from here and export it myself.”
“Don't we need Priya to approve new software now?”
“It's ten minutes. I'll tell her tomorrow.”
By 11:40, Alex was looking at the studio workstation on his laptop screen. By midnight, the file was exported and the pitch was ready.
It went well. Very well.
Alex was on the train home when Priya's message arrived. “Who was on the big workstation at 11:40 last night?”
